Spring Challenge

Dear Patients and Friends Let’s stay in balance,

Balancing rest and intense productivity are a way of life. A life of constant productivity only makes Jack and Jill boring. And in the same way a life of leisure and rest also makes for an unfulfilling life. So, we head off for our rejuvenation, rest, and adventure stop in India.

Balance

a riot of colorful offerings

Oh India

The Riotous Colors.

Intense Activity and Clamor,

Driving by Soul (how else do they avoid accidents),

Fantastic Riches of Bygone Eras,

Majestic Forts – that are Palaces,

Fashion shots on the Streets,

Smells that are mouthwatering,

Sights that remind and inspire.

To remember …

I am the quiet center in the middle of the Hurricane!

Last month we arrived in India with four friends from California and South Africa all looking to balance our busy life with the adventure that is India. We visited the Indian state of Rajasthan. A state we had barely touched before. Rajasthan has a rich history of forts and palaces echoing the past glory of the Mughal Empire.

We visited an impressive array of cities, palaces, forts, temples, deserts, lakes, and the annual camel fair in Pushkar. From Delhi to Agra, Jaipur, Pushkar, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner and back.

The sights and energy of India were non-stop, and we returned each day fulfilled and ready for rest after a full day of sightseeing, wonderful Indian food, and shopping for the girls. India refreshed, inspired, tests, and always teaches me so much about my inner self. An active balancing for my more sedate work time.

This time I am reminded that this great Mughal empire came to such prominence and with shifting trade routes and fortunes left behind fabulous cities, forts, and palaces in the dessert. Isn’t this true for me also, my great projects and desires peak, and wane also; then replaced with new visions and desires.

What is the point then if it doesn’t last? For me to live in joy and adventure every day. I’m doing my best to serve and fulfill my purpose in life. To take responsibility to make sure I create my own fulfilment and happiness, they are inner states I have control over.

I stay so grateful for my experiences and that I can contribute to this fine day. I’m doing my best to leave a trail of work that may help another.

From the N2 (Cape Town towards George) Take the first Swellendam exit (left). This is the R60. Proceed (1km+) through the 4 way stop and continue approximately 2-3 km and look for a sign for the Hermitage. Make a hard right (270 degrees). After the turn continue about 200 meters and turn left at first road (dirt). Proceed 300 meters and turn left into Red Roan Ranch and go to bottom of hill (the main house).
