Spring is around the corner and your body demands a new balance.
The trees are warming and the sap is flowing. As winter weather softens and the warmth and freshness of spring arrives our bodies naturally lose some of the weight that was put on as insulation and drop fats, the Kapha constitution that is more active during winter. The liver drops excess bile and toxins and the body naturally turns to lighter fare. You may even lose your appetite for a short period of time. This is the natural time of the year for a short cleanse and fast and many traditions around the world encourage a short spring clean and fast.
Ayurveda considers the spring one of the most important times for an annual cleanse to keep the body in tip top shape. Eating light sour and bitter tastes to natural drop the fat and excess bile from the winter of fatty and heavier food choices. Limit sweets to drop weight and prepare for the spring. Tumeric, ginger, and lemon are good to support the liver and remove excess fat and bile from the body. Fenugreek is a good blood cleanser and consider using beets in your juice.
