Food Purging Challenge for better health and weight management

We had some website challenges in August when I originally sent this and no emails where sent out. So here it is still a great time to join in this September.

This August  try a purging challenge for health. Sometimes, we need to get rid of things to achieve better clarity and create or re-define ourselves.

Last month, three women, who are patients, attended a women’s retreat and came back bubbling and enthusiastic with a well-being and spiritual cleansing challenge that the retreat presented to the participants. The challenge was simply to eliminate alcohol, sugar, caffeine, and gluten for a period (try a month and see how you feel). What was wonderful was the three women were “all in” and excited with the challenge.

Dr. Rivene commented it was surprising to see the change and excitement. She realized that this simpler four step process is a simple starting point for our lifestyle/eating plan that we give to each patient during their Ayurvedic exam. How about you? How are you implementing your lifestyle/eating plan?

Consider doing a cleanse with the purging challenge this August to finish the winter strong and prepared for a cleaner Spring where we will suggest more cleaning. So how about no alcohol, which turns into sugar. Find a non-alcoholic substitute or treat yourself to a nice hot herbal tea. Can we eliminate refined sugars, eat dates with an almond. Check the ingredients of your food to make sure refined sugars are not getting into your comfort foods (all processed foods have more salt, sugar, and fats).

Caffeine is a highly addictive stimulant in coffee, black and green teas, chocolate, and energy drinks. It ultimately reduces your energy, awareness and intelligence (it makes us stupid). It temporarily seems to wake us up and keep us going but the resulting dips and crashes only push us to crave another and further deepen the exhaustion deficit.

Move away from wheat-based bread, pasta, crackers and so forth and you may feel better than you have felt for a long time as wheat gluten is affecting a larger percentage of the population daily.

These four simple steps are a great beginning to creating a new lifestyle plan for yourself that will increase your enthusiasm, excitement, health and spiritual connection. Make August a beginning and see if you feel better and more alert, aware, and in choice.

Going further to better fitness and health

These steps and the ones you were presented in your lifestyle/eating plan see the 2021 article on daily eating and lifestyle…. will ultimately give you more energy, rejuvenate your life, increase alkalinity amping up your aliveness. Try this simple elimination/purging approach, NOW, to start.

Join us next month with the lifestyle/eating plan in September. We will start with fresh squeezed juices, then more greens and vegetables and as your body craves healthier food, we start to naturally drop junk food and processed foods. And at the same time encourage healthy movement and re-store circadian patterns to insure healthy sleep patterns.

Create a new food story and purging challenge

Consider making August your month of discovery and turn to a new story in your life creating a grounded cleaner lifestyle removing some of the major culprits (sugar, alcohol, caffeine, and wheat) of our declining health, energy and wellness in our modern diet all around the world. Continue the expansion of health by re-engaging and acting on the other steps of our unique ayurvedic eating/lifestyle plan.

From the N2 (Cape Town towards George) Take the first Swellendam exit (left). This is the R60. Proceed (1km+) through the 4 way stop and continue approximately 2-3 km and look for a sign for the Hermitage. Make a hard right (270 degrees). After the turn continue about 200 meters and turn left at first road (dirt). Proceed 300 meters and turn left into Red Roan Ranch and go to bottom of hill (the main house).

GPS:  S34 degrees 01.367 minutes, E020 degrees 25.193 minutes. Note most GPS units (Garmin, etc.) have the wrong coordinates for Red Roan Ranch.
